On Set with Sherrie

There’s nothing like a touch of celebrity to help bring a marketing video to life. Residents at Droitwich Mews Care Home had an interesting day watching our ambassador, TV actress and media personality, Sherrie Hewson, film at the home. She arrived on a bright, autumn day, and we quickly got to work setting up the camera equipment, lighting and walking Sherrie through the set.

Sherrie has been Avery’s ambassador for 3 years and is passionate about the senior adult social sector and is a prominent voice in the quest for quality care for those needing support in the senior years. It’s a close relationship where she actively engages with our residents and brand values to make a difference.

Using film to showcase our homes has become a popular communication method and is well received by our new families.  Without leaving the comfort of an armchair, viewers can take a tour of our buildings and get a sense of the high-quality fixtures and fittings, textures, and colours.  Sherrie adds her own personal style to these films by talking us through what really makes the home – the people, the care, and the community.

On set, with a comfortable lounge or busy kitchen behind her, we capture Sherrie talking about the dining environments and how Avery chefs can modify foods to meet individuals’ needs.  She places a lot of emphasis on explaining to the viewer the importance of community within the home.  For example, this could be showing our intergenerational links with schools, how local hairdressers use the facilities and information about Avery homes’ involvement in all sorts of local and national fundraising and community activities.

Closing the film, Sherrie says, “Coming to live with new neighbours at Avery care homes doesn’t mean the end of enjoying your old life outside. It’s a place where new relationships can be built, and old relationships can flourish, but all in the safe knowledge that the environment is safe and care is available 24 hours a day to meet your needs, now and ongoing as your needs change.  Speak to the team today – I can tell you they are all wonderful people and completely understand the journey you are on.  Ask lots of questions – they can help you with advice about funding through to lots of detail about the home, residential or nursing care, dementia care and short-term respite care if you need a break… but better than anything is to get a feel for the home yourself.  Come and meet the home manager and the team, and some of the wonderful residents who live here.  That’s the right way to help you make a decision that is right for you and your loved one.”  We couldn’t put it better ourselves!
