Derby Heights Jumping for ‘Joy’ce at Playlist for Life Accreditation Ceremony

Derby Heights Care Home has recently received its Playlist for Life accreditation, a core component of Avery’s ReConnect strategy, which helps residents and families to communicate by using personalised music which has a special significance to them.

The virtual ceremony, which took place on the 20th, November was hosted by Heather Perkins, Avery’s Dementia Support Advisor. Joining the virtual ceremony was Playlist for Life experts Nick Balneaves and Mary McDougall.

Both Nick and Mary praised the care staff for their efforts in reconnecting resident, Joyce, with her love of music, in particular, ‘Singin’ in the Rain’ by Gene Kelly Nick noted how ‘heart-warming’ and ‘inspiring’ it was to be reminded of all the work staff have been doing to implement music into their residents’ lives and thanked them for their presentation.
