Double Gold Award for Housekeeping and Catering at Scholars Mews

Avery Healthcare, in collaboration with the CAP Awards (Continuous Advancement Programme), is delighted to announce that Scholars Mews Care Home in Stratford-upon-Avon has won a double Gold Award for both Housekeeping and Catering.

The CAP Awards promote and reward excellence in Housekeeping and Catering in care homes, as well as hotels, hospitals and schools. The awards are based on a series of assessments and an unannounced visit by an independent CAP assessor, primarily focusing on compliance with legal and regulatory best practice and the standard of front-line service delivery. The CAP aims to raise standards in service and performance and to support the development of services for the benefit of the end user.

Davesh Kumar, Head of Hotel Services at Avery Group, explains: “In all my visits to Scholars Mews I have always found there is great attention to detail throughout the home. I was especially impressed with the level of attention to detail in Housekeeping where they scored the highest out of the three audits so far in the group. This success at Scholars Mews will foster more enthusiasm and excitement in the hotel services team, to maintain the high standards they have set and be a role model for other homes.

Here is Davesh with our dedicated Housekeeping team and Home Manager Sharon Wassing, accepting their first gold award:

Sharon was fulsome in her praise; “The two Gold CAP Awards are great recognition for all the staff and very well deserved. We have always aimed to provide care services with hotel standards for our residents and these awards evidence this. The Housekeeping and Catering staff play an integral part in the quality and delivery of our service, not just working behind the scenes but also in supporting our residents in their overall well-being. Their commitment and dedication is key to Scholars Mews success. The CAP assessment was very in-depth, both recognising the staff for their amazing work and highlighting any areas for further improvement. I am very proud of the team’s achievement.’’

Below is Sharon accepting the second Gold award, this one for Catering, along with our care home’s talented culinary team and Avery’s Group Culinary Manager, Simon Lawrence:

Scholars Mews joins two other Avery care homes; Crispin Court Care Home and Derby Heights Care Home, in achieving double Gold Awards for Housekeeping and Catering. The award follows another Good CQC rating for the care home from earlier this year.

A huge thank you to all of our team at Scholars Mews; your hard work helps keep our beautiful home running smoothly and means we can continue to deliver the highest standards of care to all our wonderful residents. Well done on achieving these awards!
