Building Bridges with the Wombourne Community

Opening in Autumn 2022, Bridge Manor Care Home in Wombourne is the latest addition to Avery’s extensive portfolio of high-quality, award-winning care homes. Bridge Manor will offer residents a home from home while giving family and friends peace of mind that support and care are available 24/7, with residential, dementia and respite services available.

Debbie Rowley, Bridge Manor Home Manager, joined the Avery family in 2016 when she took up the Home Manager position at St Giles. With a career spanning over thirty years, Debbie has a background in nursing, working in the NHS before moving to the private sector and has a wealth of knowledge, having worked in nursing homes since 1995.

Having achieved a ‘Good’ rating with the CQC with many of the care homes she has managed, Debbie credits her success to her strong leadership skills, which allow her to nurture and coach her team by demonstrating high standards and leading from the front each day.

Debbie describes her vision of Bridge Manor becoming an outstanding care home in collaboration with the local community. By creating an open, positive culture, Bridge Manor will be a home of which the Wombourne community can be proud.

Recently, Debbie has forged links with the home’s local primary school, Westfield Community Primary, as pupils have been a part of naming some of the new suites at Bridge Manor: Bratch, Railway Walk and Kingfisher Suites. The children have been invited to visit the home when these suites are open, and a part of the wall in the Well-being room will be devoted to a small gallery to display the children’s work.

Mrs Lote, Headteacher at the school, has offered that artwork produced by residents at Bridge Manor can also be displayed in their school reception area. Pupils are looking forward to regularly visiting the new home, and residents will be invited to watch the children perform their annual Christmas Carol Concert in December. Mrs Lote was also delighted to receive a £250 donation for the school from Debbie on behalf of Avery as a thank you for naming the home’s new suites.

Across our homes, we are proud to build strong community links, including with young people. Research suggests intergenerational interactions can increase resident well-being and improve children’s social and emotional skills. Debbie is looking forward to building these links between residents and the local community as she continues introducing herself to the community in Wombourne.
