Birchmere Mews Residents Decorate Poppy Tree for Remembrance

In preparation for Remembrance Day 2021, staff and residents at Birchmere Mews Care Home, in Knowle, got creative and produced their own poppy tree.

The finished product, which now sits proudly on display in reception, was made up of signed poppies by the residents, each adding a personal message to the tree. Well-being and Activities Co-ordinator, Joanna Cox, said, “We’ve had a lovely time signing individual poppies for the tree. It’s been great to see the residents get involved and engage.”

The home continued to commemorate Remembrance Sunday by hosting a party whereby residents donned their best Union Flag themed hats and celebrated all things British. With the help of the weekly Well-being pack provided to all homes, full of activity ideas and resources, residents had a wonderful time reminiscing on Remembrance over the years.
