A New Luxury Care Provision in Northamptonshire

Located in Northamptonshire, Squires Mews Care Home becomes one of the latest additions to the Avery Healthcare portfolio, offering the highest standards of residential, dementia and respite care in beautiful and spacious surroundings.

Steeped in history, Northampton is known as the origin of the British shoemaking industry. The home is close to several local historical sites, including Althorp House, Abington Park and Delapré Abbey, a favourite for residents to explore on one of their day trips.

Residents’ well-being is at the heart of everything Avery does, providing the highest standard of support for residents’ physiological, psychological, social, and nutritional needs. From walks in the gardens to daily activities, exercise classes and outings, residents are supported to lead a fulfilling lifestyle, enjoying each day to the full.

Home from Home

There are several comfortably furnished lounges where residents can entertain friends and family or take time out with the daily newspaper. The salon offers hairdressing services, and the cinema room is perfect for film lovers or those wishing to watch sports on the big screen.

In the Garden

Outside the home, you will find a beautifully vibrant garden and patio areas where residents can relax and enjoy the outdoors or get involved with an array of garden games and activities. Green-fingered residents can bring the grounds to life by tending to well-stocked beds or challenging one another to grow the tallest sunflower. There are plenty of shaded areas for moments of rest, providing the perfect spot to take afternoon tea or sample refreshments from the home’s hydration menu.

Grand Opening

Having opened its doors to residents in early 2023, Squires Mews commemorated its official grand opening in true Avery fashion in July. Welcoming over 60 guests, including members of their local community, relatives and friends of residents, the party kicked off in style with a complimentary glass of prosecco or bucks fizz.

Amongst those in attendance were special guests, Northamptonshire Mayor Cllr Stephen Hibbert, Mayoress Liz Cox and Avery Healthcare Director Ian Matthews, who proudly cut the ribbon and officially declared the home open. On the day, Cllr Stephen said, “We are very proud to welcome Squires Mews Care Home to our community. The home is friendly, peaceful and welcoming. I look forward to attending the home again for another one of their fantastic events.”

The fun-packed day was a joyous occasion, as the wonderful Katie Rose and Lesley Ann entertained guests in the garden, with the Dementia Sings Out Choir leading a wonderful singalong. With everyone in great spirits, joining together in laughter, song and dance, Nikolas rounded off the entertainment with an exquisite guitar set in the bistro as guests relaxed with refreshments and a slice of cake.

To support local businesses, Feather Robins and Canalside Ceramics set up stalls selling various gifts, from gorgeous ceramics to handmade soaps and tasteful homeware gifts. The home continued its fundraising efforts for Dementia UK, hosting a raffle with exciting prizes up for grabs, kindly donated by the local community. A remarkable sum of £240 was raised for the charity, and Barclaycard, whose UK head office is located nearby, pledged to match this amount, doubling the contribution to this worthy cause.

Commenting on the official grand opening, Kate Sweeting, Home Manager, said, “The team worked hard to make sure residents, their families, and all of our guests had a good day and an insight into Squires Mews. As we grow in numbers, I look forward to welcoming new residents to our happy home. I want to thank my team, residents and all their families for making the day so special, and I look forward to the next event.”
