A Day at Trentham Golf Club

On 14th April, resident Denys at Hanford Court Care Home in Stoke-on-Trent visited Trentham Golf Club, where he was President of the Golf Society in 1990. Denys has resided at Hanford Court since February 2017. The team at the home discussed items on his bucket list, including a visit to the golf course, of which he has fond memories. Denys began at the golf club as a Competition Secretary, raising funds for the club, before he was voted into position as President.

Denys used to play golf three times a week and would have a drink at the nineteenth hole and play pool with fellow members. He is also proud to have won a doubles trophy with his late wife, Joyce. During the recent visit, Well-being and Activities Co-ordinator Lisa arranged for them to have a tour of the grounds, looking at the trophies and the wall plaque featuring the names of the former Presidents. They also spoke with the club Chef, Julie, whom Denys has known since he was eight years old. Tucking into some lunch and a beer to round off the visit, Denys felt quite emotional and commented, “The day has been tremendous. I am so grateful to Lisa for organising it.”
