“Engaging and Welcoming”: Newcross Successfully Implement FREED Training
Newcross Care Home, in Wolverhampton, is delighted to have been presented with a trophy from Black Country and West Birmingham CCG for being the first home within the county to implement FREED training successfully.
FREED training upskills all senior staff in vital signs training. It shortens the time paramedics, and GPs spend in the home arranging the appropriate care needed, such as admission into hospital. The FREED strategy works alongside the new Docobo system, which sends automatic updates to GP surgeries and flags high-risk residents.
For the past year, Newcross Home Manager, Jenna Hughes, has worked closely with Sarah Sherwood, Quality Improvement Nurse Lead at Black Country and West Birmingham CCG, building a solid relationship since carrying out the FREED implementation training.
Sarah said, “During all the training I have provided, I found Jenna and her staff to be extremely welcoming, engaged fully in the training sessions and eager to ensure that the pathway was fully implemented within their home.”
To mark their successful training and for being the first home in Wolverhampton to implement FREED on their residents, Newcross was gifted a trophy at the home. Jenna, elated with the achievement, commented, “I would like to say a big thank you to Sarah for all your support and training this past year.”
