Tea, Cake, & a Singsong: Nancy turns 105
Nancy Bowley, resident at Scholars Mews Care Home in Stratford-upon-Avon, recently turned 105. To commemorate reaching the incredible milestone, Nancy enjoyed a special tea party with lots of surprises. Whilst current national lockdown restrictions meant that Nancy wasn’t able to spend her birthday with her family like usual, this didn’t stop her from making the most of the day with friends.
Greeted by a beautiful balloon arch crafted by Scholars Mews staff, Nancy enjoyed cake, bubbles, and gifts with friends in the home. She was even photographed and interviewed by The Stafford Herald, where she revealed her secret to a long and happy life to be, “Drinking plenty of wine and dancing!”
Thankfully, Nancy could use the home’s outdoor garden pod, designed to allow for safe outdoor meetings. She met separately with daughters Maggie and June, who were pleased they were still able to sing Happy Birthday to their mother to keep in line with tradition. Nancy was delighted to receive a card from the Queen, as well as enjoy an excellent virtual performance from Tora Wilson, a classical crossover/opera singer who said, “It was such a pleasure to sing for Mrs. B’s 105th birthday.”
