Home of the Quarter – Grove Park Care Home
Grove Park Care Home in Headingley, Leeds is featured as the Home of the Quarter, following a series of achievements in recent months.
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) recently inspected the home and assessed it as Good In All Categories, and the healthcare sector’s CAP organisation (Continuous Advancement Programme) awarded the home with double gold for their high-standards within the Housekeeping and Culinary departments. All of this is clear recognition of the dedication and hard work from everyone at the home, whatever their role, and to the leadership at all levels. Always keen to take on a challenge, Grove Park also won Avery’s 2019 Christmas Cake Competition.
Head of Maintenance, Gary Lammin is dedicated to continually improving the resident experience and facilities within the home, using their feedback to bring ideas to life. Home Manager Lisa Turnbull comments, “Some of Gary’s more recent projects includes a handmade sweet trolley that goes to all the floors, a Santa’s grotto for the visiting children at Christmas, and even a well-stocked bar within the private dining room! He has worked tirelessly over weekends and in his own time to ensure these enhancements were delivered to exacting standards.”
Multi-sensory reminiscence is a passion for the team at Grove Park. Using their model doll’s house (called ‘Grove Manor’), the staff and residents have replicated the home, even down to the grand piano in reception! They decorate it each season whilst discussing past experiences, such as the smell of home when growing up, the washing mangle and other traditional tools, as well as home cooking.
Regional Manager Maria Booth commented: “Grove Park has a lovely atmosphere and feeling. I only ever see the staff looking happy and displaying a positive attitude. The environment is high-quality and it is always a pleasure to visit. The coffee shop is a hub of the home, and our Barista, Virginia, indulges residents and visitors there every day, especially for their elevenses!”
