A Winter Wonderland with Sherrie
Avery Ambassador Sherrie Hewson was recently invited to our Winter Wonderland Grand Opening at Birchmere Mews Care Home in Solihull, where we had plenty of fun getting into the festive spirit!
Residents from both floors joined together for our Winter Wonderland opening, which was celebrated on the Blythe Suite located on the ground floor. We decorated the home with pre-lit, snow-covered twig trees as centrepieces surrounded by winter potpourri and garlands covered the entrance into the dining hall. Birchmere’s Resident Choir sang seasonal songs for the gathering of residents, their families, friends and other visitors whilst they enjoying a glass of prosecco.
Upon Sherrie’s arrival, she introduced herself to everyone and proceeded to cut the beautiful red ribbon that was displayed in the grand entrance of the home, accompanied by the wonderful harpist, Lizzie Peacock. This was Lizzie’s first visit to Birchmere Mews, but after great recommendations from our sister home, Birchmere House, we will be welcoming her back!
Our chefs prepared some tasty food for the event, including bacon turnovers, tomato, cheese and onion quiche, canapés with serrano ham and a lovely selection of sandwiches. The dessert for the day was a lemon sponge cake topped with sugared cranberries.
Home Manager Charley Simcox commented on the day’s events: “I am extremely proud of all the team at Birchmere Mews for their hard work for this event. The atmosphere was so warm and friendly with a buzz in the air and laughter and chatter from everybody. Sherrie was the perfect guest who and time for everybody. The day was perfect, so thank you to everyone who was involved.”
