Managing Director’s Award for Julie at Darwin Court
Julie is our Well-being and Activity Coordinator at Darwin Court Care Home in Lichfield and on January 11th she was delighted to receive the Avery Managing Director’s Award in recognition for going the extra mile!
Julie comes into our home every day with the biggest smile on her face, full of energy and enthusiasm for her job. She thinks ‘outside of the box’ and since joining the Darwin Team she has made it her mission to adapt activities to be more inclusive for those residents who might normally struggle to join in. The results have made many residents very happy, as seen in the beaming smiles on their faces.
Last summer, Julie was the driving force behind a memory walk that clocked up 22 miles in 9 hours, as part of Avery’s fundraising for the Alzheimer’s Society. It took place on the roof terrace, (mostly in the rain) with residents, families, school children, a Staffordshire regiment flag bearer, mayoress and entertainers all coming along to help with the fundraising. She raised a whopping £1000!
MD John Strowbridge agreed, Julie truly is what Avery is about. Congratulations Julie!

At Avery was incredibly proud of all our staff. They are dedicated and caring and we think it’s important to recognise those who show true enthusiasm and commitment to their job by going the extra mile. Avery was also recently awarded independent recognition for its staff with publishings in Which?, LaingBuisson and a great result in our service user survey for 2017.
